Age-Friendly AI: A Creative Exploration of lifelong learning at IMMA

The Matheson Creativity Hub at IMMA was full of energy on Saturday May 10th as visitors immersed themselves in an interactive ‘Age-Friendly AI’ showcase. Part of the Bealtaine Festival, this free event explored the intriguing intersection of art, Artificial Intelligence and the potential for a more age-friendly future.

The event celebrated creativity and lifelong learning. Visitors were treated to a unique blend of exhibits that explored the relationship between art, AI, and memory.

Beyond the interactive exhibits, the showcase provided a platform for thought-provoking and engaging discussions. Attendees had the opportunity to chat about current AI dilemmas and share their own thoughts and ideas, all centered around the exciting potential of Artificial Intelligence to shape a more supportive and inclusive future for older adults. The event underscored how creative activities can be a powerful tool for empowering active ageing and fostering a deeper understanding of emerging technologies.

The showcase tied in nicely with the themes explored in IMMA’s current exhibition called “Staying With the Trouble” which invites visitors to rethink their connections with humans, animals and ecosystems. The “Techno-Apocalypse” strand of the exhibition critiques dystopian views on technology, proposing a more interconnected future.

The ‘Age-Friendly AI’ showcase at IMMA used interactive activities, and AI art to demonstrate the power of bringing together art, technology and community.
