On June 12, the Age-Friendly AI training workshop brought together over 30 participants to explore the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on our everyday lives. A massive thank you goes out to our hosts at the Carlow Central Library where the entire library layout was rearranged to comfortably accommodate the high turnout, while also providing delicious cakes, tea, and coffee for everyone.
It was wonderful to see such curiosity, engagement, and thoughtful discussion among the participants around how Artificial Intelligence is influencing our daily lives. During the session, participants explored the basics of AI, discussed where it appears in daily activities like shopping and banking, and shared their thoughts and questions about the technology.
Following the workshop, participants had the chance to engage with our interactive AI exhibits and demonstrations:
- “The Spirit of Radio” – a vintage radio design with an AI twist.
- “Art or AI?”- an art exhibition challenging participants to spot AI-generated images.
About the Age-Friendly AI Training Programme
Age-Friendly AI is Ireland’s national AI literacy initiative for older adults, funded by Research Ireland and coordinated by the ADAPT Centre and TU Dublin. Based on a series of year-long conversations across Ireland exploring the hopes, concerns and ideas of older adults on Artificial Intelligence (AI), the team is now rolling out a tailored AI Literacy training programme nationwide.
