Kilkenny: Join the Age-Friendly AI workshop in Kilkenny

Thursday, 11th June 2026

Age-Friendly AI will host an interactive training workshop at Mayfair Library, Kilkenny on June 11.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) increasingly influences our daily life – from how we communicate to how we do our shopping. Following a year-long public dialogue exploring people’s hopes and concerns on Artificial Intelligence and its role in everyday life, Age-Friendly AI is rolling out a training programme, co-developed with and for older people.

No prior knowledge or experience with Artificial Intelligence is required to join the event.

What to Expect from the Event

In this session, you will:

  • Learn what AI is and where it can be found in your day to day life.
  • Explore how AI is already shaping different areas, such as healthcare, banking and communication.
  • See the benefits and risks of AI.

Participants are invited to stay on after the workshop to try out AI technology in a friendly environment.

The AI activities will include:

  • ‘Spirit of the Radio’ – a vintage radio with a modern twist
  • Try to spot the difference between human art and AI art with the Art or AI exhibit
  • See how your voice can control a lamp
What is AI?

Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is when technology is designed to do tasks that usually need human thinking, like finding patterns in huge amounts of information – it is used on your phone, for example in predictive texting or in online shopping for making suggestions.

The event is free of charge. Registrations are handled directly through the local library. If you wish to register for the workshop, send an email to Mayfair Library at mayfair@kilkennylibrary.ie or call 056 799 4174.
