The Age-Friendly AI team is delighted to hold an interactive training workshop in Offaly on July 9th.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming an increasingly big part of everyday life — from daily apps we use, such as the weather forecast, to predictive text on our smartphones. Even areas such as healthcare and banking are using AI already.
In this workshop, we will explore what AI is, where it can be found in daily life and what to look out for when using it.
No prior knowledge of AI is required to join this event – everyone is welcome.
What is this workshop about?
This Age-Friendly AI training programme has been co-developed with and for older adults across Ireland, building on nationwide conversations held in 2025. It directly reflects people’s hopes and concerns about AI, as well as their ideas on how to make AI more age-friendly.
During the session, you will:
- Learn the basics of Artificial Intelligence
- Spot AI in daily life
- Discuss the benefits and potential risks of using AI
- Take part in conversations about AI in a friendly environment
After the workshop, there will also be an opportunity to try out AI technologies firsthand through interactive demonstrations. We will bring ‘The Spirit of Radio’ (our vintage radio with an AI-twist), our ‘Art or AI?’ exhibit, and a voice-controlled AI lamp.
What is AI?
Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is when technology is designed to do tasks that usually need human thinking, like finding patterns in huge amounts of information – it is used on your phone, for example in predictive texting or in online shopping for making suggestions.Can this sentence be in the project colour’s blue to highlight it or in a box on the side of the page?
