One Year On: Celebrating the First Year of Age-Friendly AI

It’s hard to believe that Age-Friendly AI had its official launch exactly one year ago today, on 27 March 2025.

What a remarkable year it has been. Since Francis Brennan (Age Friendly Ireland Ambassador for Co. Kerry) helped us kick off the initiative at Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin), we have been working alongside over 20 community partners to ensure that older adults are not just observers, but active participants in shaping AI literacy training in Ireland.

Bringing the Conversation to the Community

Over the last 12 months, the Age-Friendly AI team has been on the road – listening and learning. We believe that for technology to be useful, it must be accessible and relevant to the people using it. By meeting communities where they are, we’ve been able to turn complex tech talk into meaningful discussions.

The journey so far by the numbers:

  • 6,300+ people reached directly through our events and workshops.
  • 70+ dedicated researchers who have travelled over 42,000km combined to meet participants nationwide.
  • 11 counties visited, with many more stops planned.

Check out what participants had to say at one of our workshops.

We’re not there yet, but we’re getting there

As the saying goes – we are not there yet, but we are getting there. With over 20 county visits still to come, our 2026 schedule is filling up fast. We are looking forward to getting back on the road to ensure no community is left behind in the digital age.

Looking Ahead

We are incredibly excited to keep this momentum going as the next phase of Age-Friendly AI kicks off next month. This new chapter will bring even more opportunities for dialogue and hands-on learning.

A massive thank you to the thousands of people who have joined the conversation so far, and we look forward to meeting many more of you in the coming months.
