STEM Ensemble visited Dublin Maker over the weekend in the new DM venue at Leopardstown Racecourse.

Our main exhibit for this year was “The Spirit of Radio”, which is a celebration of the centenary of Irish broadcast radio. The radio was inspired by a Bush 1950s radio and considers what a vintage radio of that era could do with 21st-century technology such as media streams and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Our radio includes a number of features that are found in period radios, including a reimagining of a “magic eye” and interstation noise. But this radio has an AI twist! Change the channel and you will receive AI-generated music through the speakers.
