There was a great atmosphere at Wexford Town Library today as an enthusiastic group of participants joined our Age-Friendly AI Training Workshop to explore Artificial Intelligence (AI) in a friendly and welcoming environment.

After a warm welcome from Lucy Hederman (ADAPT Centre, Trinity), we had engaging discussions around Artificial Intelligence, exploring what AI is and where it is transforming our daily lives. Many participants shared their thoughts and experiences with the technology. One participant highlighted the importance of EU regulations and the concept of ‘Human in the Loop’ in making the final decision, particularly in the healthcare sector. Guided by Damon Berry (TU Dublin), “The Spirit of Radio” exhibit captivated the audience with its unique blend of a vintage radio and an AI twist.

This Age-Friendly AI Training Programme has been developed with and for older adults, building on conversations held across Ireland throughout 2025. These discussions explored people’s hopes, concerns, and ideas about AI, which directly shaped our training content.

During the workshop, participants took part in interactive discussions and activities to:

• Learn more about Artificial Intelligence in daily life.
• ⁠Explore the benefits and potential risks of AI.
• ⁠Try out AI demonstrations first-hand.

Following the workshop, participants had the opportunity to engage with AI demonstrations and experience some examples of AI technology in an interactive setting: ‘The Spirit of Radio’ – a vintage radio with a modern twist – and ‘Art or AI?’ – an exhibition where participants could guess if an image has been AI-generated or human-curated.
